Team Katy is riding 2,000+ miles around the UK to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society after his mother, Kate, was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s last year at just 56 years old.
We will be doing the ride on motorcycles as Kate has had a passion for them from an early age. She will be with us for the duration of the ride, coming along in the sidecar of a classic Triumph Bonneville; the side car is moulded from the drop tank of a Mosquito. We will be starting the ride from the Tri Anglia Wheels Sidecar rally in Bedfordshire before heading around the UK, taking in the Four Corners of Britain – Lizard Point in Cornwall, Ardnamurchan Point and Dunnet Head in Scotland form the Southerly, Westerly and most Northerly corners. The epic ride will end at The Federation of Sidecar Clubs National Rally at Selby. Just for good measure we will include Land’s End and John O’ Groats in the itinery. We will also be calling in at the premises’ of our major sponsors.
The team consists of my mother Kate my step-father Mick on the Triumph, my uncle Colin on his Yamaha Trike, and my fiancé Zoë and I on a Royal Enfield 500, kindly donated to us by Alan Hitchcock’s Motorcycles for the duration of the ride. I know that everyone is struggling for money at the moment, but the work that the Alzheimer’s Society do is beyond words, so please donate what you can to our Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/Michael-Payne1. We are also on Facebook www.facebook.com/pages/Team-Katy/337565223023474 and Twitter @TKaty4Corners so please follow to see what we’ve been up to and how our preparations are coming along.
