Talon Cup 2011
The Talon Cup is an annual football competition contested between Tactical Imagery-Intelligence Wing (TIW), Royal Air Force Marham and the Joint Air Reconnaissance Intelligence Centre (JARIC), Royal Air Force Brampton.
Held in high regard within the RAF Intelligence community, 21st July saw this annual event take place at RAF Marham. As always, it was a strongly contested spectacle with a high standard of football played. There was an additional objective of raising money for charity; this year’s charity of choice being the Anthony Nolan Trust.
The start of the event saw TIW being presented with a new kit from sponsors 3SDL in the colours and design of the TIW crest. Based at Malvern, 3SDL is a provider of acquisition services to defence & security clients around the world.
JARIC’s strength in midfield played a vital part as they ran out comfortable winners. Goals from McClymont, Thompson, Nielsen and O’Dell ensured that Talon Cup trophy was heading back to JARIC. Were it not for an outstanding performance by King in the TIW goal, the defeat inflicted could have been far heavier.
