Record Year for Marham Air Cadets

D of E 3

In its fourth year, Marham’s Air Cadet unit has broken its own record.

On Friends and Families Day in August, cadets from 864 (Marham) DF Air Training Corps, assisted by Cadets from Watton and Fakenham, collected a grand total of £824 in visitor donations for programmes. Over £100 more than in previous years.

OIC Friends and Families Day – Sqn Ldr Ian Bews said: “The cadets did a great job as always. Their assistance in collecting money and selling programmes was vital to the day and I hope that they will come back next year.”

The cadets’ commanding officer Flt Lt Tony Hall said: “ We always enjoy Friends and Families Day and the cadets appreciate the importance of giving something back to the station that provides so much for them.”

Other activities that Marham cadets enjoyed this summer and autumn have included a week’s camp at RAF Coningsby, an evening racing around the station’s Kart track, attending the Battle of Britain parade in Downham Market and a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition on the North Norfolk coast.

Activities lined up for the next couple of months include Remembrance Sunday Parade, a visit to Air Traffic Control, a marksmanship training weekend and a Christmas party.

Marham Cadets are now recruiting. Any boys and girls aged from 13 to 16 who are interested in joining in should contact Flt Lt Tony Hall by phone on 07900 518153 or by Email at
