WWII Medals Donated to IX(B) Squadron

Wg Cdr Snaith, OC IX(B) Sqn is shown below receiving the WWII medals of IX(B) Sqn Lancaster Air Gunner – Sergeant Dennis Winch.

Mrs Christine Cooper (Sergeant Winch’s sister) and Mr Tony Winch, (Sergeant Winch’s brother) donated the medals to the IX(B) Squadron Museum for safe-keeping. Sgt Winch joined IX (B) Squadron in the summer of 1944 and was killed in action, aged 20, on 12th January 1945. It was his 9th mission. Wg Cdr Snaith thanked Mrs Cooper and Mr Winch and said that he was honoured and privileged to receive the medals for safe-keeping on IX(B) Squadron.
