Tornado PT Suppliers Help the Hive

Monday 20th February and suppliers from the Tornado PT took advantage of some computer downtime, caused by the changeover to Dii(F), to assist the RAF Marham Hive in preparing packs for the deployed servicemen and their families.

Two types of packs were prepared for dispatch; the first contained re-useable voice recorders on which the spoken word could be stored and replayed once delivered – an effective, fun and simple way of sending a message. The second type of pack contained a wealth of useful information specifically for the families of those who are about to be deployed, including the various support organisations and how to get in touch with them.

The number of packs stretched into the hundreds and would normally have taken the hardworking folk at the Hive several hours to do. Happily, on this occasion, the Tornado PT was able to lessen their burden and help the Hive get the much needed packs to their recipients.

Hayley West (DESFAST-Tor-SCM-OPS) first had the idea of assisting the Hive and considers that it was time well spent. “Our day job is focussed on the Tornado aircraft, and I thought it would be good to make a positive contribution to the servicemen and women who work in a deployed setting. They do a great job and it was good for us to make a contribution which makes their posting abroad a little easier.”
