Station Commander’s Foreword (Issue 11, 2013)
As ever, November proved to be yet another busy and productive month at RAF Marham. The Station turned out in force to support Remembrance Day services across the breadth of Norfolk. I personally attended the parade in Norwich and was incredibly proud of our team’s performance on parade, and overwhelmed by the support given by our local communities.
On 13th November we completed our Annual Formal Inspection, wherein we were visited by AOC 1Gp, Air Vice Marshal Stuart Atha DSO MA BSc RAF. The inspection went extremely well from start to finish, with the AOC commenting that Marham was one of the friendliest stations he has visited lately. I would like to thank the whole station for this exceptional performance, especially those directly involved with the organisation of the event. For me, the pinnacle of the day was the Honours and Awards ceremony, which epitomised the diversity of talent we have on this station, and demonstrated the unwavering commitment shown by both service and civilian personnel here at Marham.
By the time this edition of Marham Matters goes to print, we will no doubt be firmly focused on the run-up to Christmas, and with it, a well-deserved break over the festive period. 2013 has been an incredibly busy yet immensely successful year, and for this you can all be justifiably proud. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all, both on station and off, for your hard work, support and commitment throughout this last year, and wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and happy and successful New Year.
