Royal British Legion Celebrate their 90th Birthday

Personnel from Royal Air Force Marham joined Royal British Legion fundraisers to celebrate the launch of the charity’s 90th birthday year at the Swaffham Ecotech Discovery Centre.

The celebration marked the beginning of a series of county wide events which will raise public awareness into the role of the Legion in the community. The charity also hopes to encourage more people to get involved with welfare and membership activities.

RAF Marham personnel, joined in the launch event in recognition of the valuable work the charity carries out for the serving and ex-Service community. The personnel representing RAF Marham, Warrant Officer Paul Edwards, Corporal Dan Clark and Lance Corporal Robin Batchelor were all raised and educated in Norfolk.

Warrant Officer Edwards said: “We climbed the 305 steps to the top of the wind turbine and after catching our breath we enjoyed a fantastic view of the Norfolk countryside. A group of visiting school children from St Louis Catholic Middle School in Bury St Edmunds joined us for a piece of birthday cake in celebration of the Royal British Legion’s 90th birthday.”
