Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund

Following an Extraordinary Meeting of the Trustees of The Royal Air Force Dependants Fund it was decided to increase the benefit payable on the death of a subscriber to the scheme from £10,000 to £15,000. This increase was effective from 0001 hrs on Friday 26th October 2012.

As a reminder, the scheme is open to all members of the RAF & FTRS (RAF) on payment of a monthly subscription of 50p through salary.  Members of the R Aux AF may subscribe to the scheme for a period of 12 months when warned for deployment on payment of £6. On RAF pay statements the scheme features as “Service Charity Monthly – 50p”.

On death of a subscriber the Dependants Fund provides a one-off lump sum which is normally paid within 48 hours of the death.  The benefit is tax free and does not form part of the estate of the deceased.  Full details on the scheme can be found in AP 3392 Vol 2 Leaflet 2405. If you require further information please contact the Scheme Manager on RAF Brize Norton Ext: 6608 (95461) or 01993 896608.
