Raising Money for SSAFA

My name is Mark Elvin and I work for Atkins as a road working operative. My wife, Liz Smith works for SSAFA Forces Help at RAF Marham.

We are passionate classic mini owners and boast a collection of three vehicles, which includes two mini vans and a saloon. For the past year we have never missed the chance to promote the work of SSAFA and fly their flag. We have been accepting donations for SSAFA – Marham along the way. One of the events we attended was the London to Brighton Mini Run and we were thrilled to have received over £100 in donations for SSAFA!

2013 brings my biggest challenge yet and I have set a goal of £750. On Saturday 20th April I shall be having a shave and hair cut. Not just any old haircut – just half my beard and head of hair is going! Friends and family think I am a little crazy, but then again it’s for a good cause, as all the money raised is going to SSAFA Marham.

I am presently asking people to dig deep and pledge their support for my challenge. The more donations I receive the longer my new ‘head’ style will remain for the world to see. For every £25 raised it stays for another day.

The mini show season is just about to start and our diary is filling up fast so there’s no chance of going into hiding. On the day following the ‘half hair cut and shave’ we are attending a rally of over 100 minis going from Bury St Edmunds to Aldeburgh and the following Saturday we plan to have a stall at the King’s Lynn in Bloom fete. I’m sure I’ll get some strange looks – but it will be worth it.

Anybody who would like to sponsor me can donate on my charity web page which can be found at www.virginmoneygiving.com/miniforce. I also have a facebook event page or follow me on twitter.

P.S I would like to thank my wife Liz for allowing me to set this challenge – as she has to be seen out with me!!
