RAF Photographic Competition 2016: “The Results”

The RAF Photographic Competition 2016 results were recently published and RAF Marham personnel figured significantly in the results.

The Photo Section at RAF Marham achieved a 3rd Place in the Section entry.
Sgt Howe achieved 1st Place in the Technical and Engineering Category.
Sgt Gold from 12 Sqn received a 2nd place in the Amateur Category.
SAC Buchanan had one of her photos of the Op GRANBY Tornado selected for voting in the People’s Choice Awards.

The competition was judged by:
Emma Cattell – ex Mirror press photographer
Luke Brighty – Metro Picture Editor
Walter Benzie – President of the Royal Photographic Society

The Competition itself had more than 550 images entered reflecting every aspect of RAF life.
This has provided the RAF with a unique opportunity to engage with the UK public showing them the broad range of activities and events the RAF is involved in.
The winning images were displayed in many national newspapers and online, across the world meaning the RAF has been promoted worldwide and was only possible due to the quality of the photographers and the effectiveness of their imagery.
The People’s Choice Awards resulted in over 18,000 votes with 6,000 coming from the RAF Museum whereby for the first time we provided tokens for visitors to vote.

The Awards Ceremony was held on Friday 16th September at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, London
where Assistant Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal Richard Knighton MA(Cantab) MA DipFM CEng FIMechE RAF presented the awards to the winners along with other Competition Sponsors from Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Calumet, Colour Confidence.
