RAF Marham’s Clay Pigeon Shooting Team at the RAF Championships

RAF Marham’s Clay Pigeon Shooting Team attended the RAF Championships held at Kibworth shooting ground and Nottingham and district gun club over 10th-13th May.

The first event, English Sporting saw the team of Sgt Chris Davies, Sgt Chris Abbott and SAC(T) Gaz Hughes coming second overall, losing narrowly to RAF Boscombe Down. The Down the Line (DTL) event on Day two involved a change of venue to Nottingham, this time individual honours went to Sgt Chris Davies, Hi Gun in C class with a score of 265/300 and SAC(T) Gaz Hughes third in C class with a score of 250/300.

The third days event of English skeet saw the team again doing well and coming second with Sgt Gav Jackson putting in an excellent first time score 79/100 to complement Sgt Davies 88/100 & SAC(T) Hughes 80/100 scores. The final days discipline of Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) a demanding event requiring solid focus and cat like reaction times. Again the team placed well, achieving second and Sgt Chris Davies coming second in B class with a score of 79/100. Sgt Gav Jackson also won the best newcomer trophy for his performance over the four days. All four team members came in the top twenty, Sgt Chris Davies best placed at fourth overall. All of the RAF Marham team have been selected to represent the RAF for this years inter Service and Emergency Services shoots.
