The RAFCSAA Inter Unit Championships took place from 1st – 4th October in Anglesey, Wales, this year, and two teams represented RAF Marham.

The event is split into two competitions, shore and boat, with the shore event being held at Llandudno.

The fishing continued into the late evening, with scattered showers, the Marham shore team, Cpl Mal Hore, Cpl Sean Lloyd and SAC Gus Lambie fished a hard match of mainly undersized Whiting, with only 320 fish being caught throughout the match.

The following day was a very early start for the Marham boat team fishing the Menai Straits, with the rain holding off for most of the day. Cpl Dan Conway caught a personal best Wrasse of approximately 5lb and Sean and new boy CT Pete Cable caught over eight different species, with a match total of 2450 fish being caught.

With excited bar talk about ‘the one that got away’ the evening was rounded off with the results of the competition and award ceremony. SAC Lambie took the award for ‘Best Species’ with a 100pt Huss and an individual placement of 6th in the competition. The RAF Marham teams managed a very respectful 5th place overall.

RAF Marham Sea Angling Club are always after new members, so if you’d like to give it a try get in touch with either Cpl Mal Hore Ext: 5158 or Cpl Dan Conway Ext: 7161.
