Olympic Call Up
When post-room courier Andy Stephenson got his RAF call up to provide security detail at the Olympic Games he was paid the highest tribute from his two young children when they said: “We like it when daddy plays soldiers.”
For 40-year-old Andy, an RAF reservist for Marham’s 2620 Squadron, the chance to be a part of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics is a real feather in his cap.
Andy, who has been in his city council role for six years, said: “I don’t have all the details of exactly what I’ll be doing as it’s yet to be confirmed. But the security force will be given specialised training nearer the time. “It’s a fantastic opportunity and it will be really good to be involved in an event like the Olympic Games.”
The father-of-two will begin his four-month tour of duty in the capital, starting on 14th June.
