New Officer Commanding Operations Wing at RAF Marham

After a very busy two years in post, Wing Commander Andy Challen took to the skies for his final flight as Officer Commanding Operations Wing accompanied by his replacement Wing Commander Rob Connor.

In his two years in charge of Operations Wing at RAF Marham, Wg Cdr Challen and his team have been exceptionally busy. This key role provides critical support across the station to enable the safe and efficient operation of airfield operations in support of Marham’s 3 Tornado GR4 squadrons.

Wing Commander Challen said: “Commanding RAF Marham Operations Wing has been an extremely challenging role that has seen RAF Marham, and Operations Wing in particular, deliver more operational effect in the past two years than anyone thought possible. This has been achieved because of the professionalism, dedication, hard work and intelligence of our personnel. Thank you to all of you.”

Wing Commander Rob Connor is no stranger to RAF Marham as he returns for his third tour at the base previously serving with both XIII Squadron and on Operations Wing. On his return to Marham he said: “It is a great privilege for me to take command of Operations Wing at RAF Marham. As one of the largest and busiest stations in the RAF I look forward to the many challenges that come with this command. My family and I are delighted to be back in Norfolk and I’m particularly pleased to be serving back at Marham.”
