King’s Lynn Wings Appeal
On Saturday 14th September, the first really dull, wet and decidedly chilly day for many months, 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron Air Cadets were out in force to assist the local King’s Lynn & District Royal Air Forces Association branch with its annual Wings Appeal street collection.
Having been briefed and issued with tabards and collecting tins the cadets took up strategic positions in the town centre. Although the weather appeared to have deterred many shoppers from venturing out, the sight of the determined cadets still resulted in a good response from the public with donations to the appeal ranging from a few coppers to many pounds.
Some cadets found themselves being brought hot drinks whilst their smartness and politeness was commented upon many times. RAFA branch Secretary Michael Forster said at the conclusion of the day that “once again the Cadets had been the backbone of the day’s collection.”
