ISS-RAFCRL Partnership Update (ISS GEMS Awards for RAF Marham Personnel)
The quarterly GEMS awards were held in the Officers’ Mess Ante Room with ISS Defence Director, Aiden Murphy & OC BSW Wing Commander Neil Tomlin presenting eight recognition certificates and the GEMS award winner with a gift voucher and certificate.
This is the third time that GEMS certificates have been awarded, and by far the most hotly contested. The nine nominees were Jill Arthur, Angela Ware and Leigh Williams from the Bull Café Lounge Bar, Corporal Andy Hollingsworth from the Officers’ Mess kitchen, Anna Dowsing (former winner), Lindsay Leonard & Keith Appleyard from the ISS Main Office, and second time nominees Elizabeth Thompson from the SPAR Convenience Shop & Denise McLean from Louis’ Bar.
The winner of the GEMS award was Angela Ware, the head chef in the Bull Café Lounge Bar. Angela was part of the team that first produced the menu with Executive Chef Shane O’Connor at the Spotlight, RAF Brize-Norton in January. Since the introduction of the new menu in February there has been a three fold increase in food sales, attracting many new customers. The attraction of the choices on the menu and the professional approach in which Angela leads her team has made the Bull the most sought after venue for a meal at lunchtimes constantly attracting positive comments whether it be Service personnel or families from the local community. Well done Angela, keep up the good work.
