ISS-RAF CRL Partnership Still Moving Forward

Louise, Chris, Leigh & Becki presenting cheque to EAAA

In what has been a busy Summer period it is hoped that the ISS-RAFCRL Partnership has made further improvements, based on feedback from the customer.

Recent months has seen the introduction of a New Menu in Louis’ Café Lounge Bar and The “Bapmobile”. Freshly made daily, Baguettes, Sandwiches, Wraps, Salads & Paninis have become very popular, and with the Winter months drawing near, Porridge, Soup & Baked Potatoes will soon be on the menu. The Bapmobile is now offering an order and delivery service on Friday mornings of Breakfast baguettes & rolls. Requests need to be pre-ordered on a Thursday either with Natalie, the Babmobile operative, or on Ext: 6169.

A welcome introduction to the SPAR Convenience Shop has been the Costa Express coffee machine, which will provide all your High Street favourite drinks, apart from Tea, but that will be on sale, freshly brewed, very soon. To make your coffee more enjoyable a bookshelf has been introduced into the seating area, where you can read and relax, or borrow books for a small donation to SSAFA. Real Deals can now be found on every shelf, as they can in the Community SPAR. Notice of Real Deals in both SPAR shops, along with other Catering, Retail & Leisure news & events can be found on the ISS-CRL website at www.iss-crl.co.uk.

The Junior Ranks Restaurant continues to attract customers from all over the Unit with its many choices of different items on the menu, the latest being the Hot Wok Bar, available on a Monday & Wednesday lunchtime at a cost of £2.10.

Within the community Becki McLean, Leigh Williams, Louise Lyon, Chris Beavis ably assisted by Den McLean and members of the Bull Café Lounge Bar raised £513.37 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance through a disco, raffle and donations from those attending. The family event was also supported by Community Support Squadron who sponsored the Bouncy Castle, and Phil Harrison who not only donated the first prize for the raffle of a BMX bike, but also gave his time as the Disco Operator for the adults in the evening.

Following Friends & Families Day both Louis’ Bar & the Bull Café Lounge Bar held highly successful events. The “Booze” Brothers entertained families in the Bull Café Lounge Bar, in what is hoped will be monthly appearances by this local band made up of former RAF personnel.

October 9th sees the return of the Funny Fokkers Comedy Night in The Grafton Club. For those who attended the last Comedy Night in May you will be familiar with the hilariously funny Master of Ceremonies Chris Gilbert, who will be joined on stage by Paul Tonkinson & Christian Reilly. Paul can currently be seen on Michael McIntyres Road Show & Perrier Winner Christian has been likened to Bill Bailey. Tickets are £4 and for every ticket sold £1 will be donated to RAFA, who will also have a stall at the event. Doors open at 1900 with the show starting at 2030. Tickets are available from all retail outlets and from the ISS Office in Catering Flight HQ, and can be reserved by phoning Keith Appleyard on Ext: 7938. For those who do not get the opportunity to buy their tickets prior to the function tickets will be available at the door subject to crowd limitations.
