Further Developments Within the ISS/RAF Partnership

The partnership are keen to know your views and have distributed a survey to all Service Family Accommodation, this gives you the chance to tell the partnership what you would like to see in the retail and leisure areas at RAF Marham to help improve the service provided. A mailbox has been set up to assist in speeding up responses to any feedback, please send any comments to: MrmCRLFeedback@uk.issworld.com

After a few setbacks the SPAR Convenience shop re-opened on 7th November, displaying a larger range of product, Real Deals, and a comfortable seating area to relax and enjoy a snack in The Real Bean Café area.

Pay As You Dine continues to draw a lot of feedback from diners, and many of these comments are passed on to the development team to further improve the service for the diners. Once again it is the action taken following comments made by the diners that will see PAYD progress with improvement, and we invite you to use the feedback mailbox to help affect this.

The Top Gun event sponsored by the Royal Air Force Association marked the launch of Louis’ Bar & the Grafton Club. The all ranks event was sponsored and set up by RAFA with a lot of hard work from their fund raising team and the RAFA liaison personnel led by Chief Technician Stef Poole: the evening itself was an immense success as members of the Grafton Club Committee and the Louis’ Bar staff led by Den McLean ensured the maximum attendance were well catered for. The main guest for the evening was Zoe Salmon of Blue Peter and Dancing on Ice fame. Radio 1Xtra DJ Sarah Jane Crawford, assisted by resident DJs “Paddy” & “Sausage” ensured that the dance floor was well used. The Grafton Club will now re-commence regular Thursday Night Discos in addition to the Friday night mid-month discos in Louis’ Bar. The Club is available for functions and will be hosting the Junior Ranks Christmas function following their Christmas Dinner on December 8th.

The Bull & Bowl has had a busy couple of months, with activities for Mums & Toddlers over the half term holiday; a Children’s Quiz organised by Marianne Rickard was extremely popular, and there will be more events for children in the future. The Hallowe’en masquerade disco on 28th October proved extremely successful as did the children’s Hallowe’en party the following afternoon. The monthly themed disco nights are organised by the staff, with the next one being a Superheroes event, and they are currently in the early stages of organising functions for the festive period. The Monday Night Quiz continues and January will see the introduction of a “Snowball Quiz” at the end of the normal quiz, initially details of this will be posted on the ISS-RAFCRL website: www.iss-rafcrl.co.uk/marham

Early replies from the survey sent to the Services Family Accommodation indicate that more use should be made of the Bull & Bowl. It is proposed to establish a panel of volunteers from the Community to help organise and run events during the day or evening in the Bull & Bowl, these events could range from Bingo to Cake Decorating and be run by the community for the community.

If you are interested in joining the panel or helping out please contact Keith Appleyard at RAF Marham 01760 337261 Ext: 7938.
