CRL Progression

The partnership of Catering, Retail and Leisure is now well embedded within RAF Marham. Visible differences at present are very little; however there have been changes.

In the Spar Convenience Store technology is playing its part, not only the new EPOS tills, Ann Marie the manageress can now order products through the internet, this gives a larger range of product, there are less gaps on the shelf with regular availability of popular products. There has been a change of brand to Real Bean Coffee, and the introduction of “Boston’s Donuts” and the Pick ‘n’ Mix counter has proved very popular. The Convenience store will undergo refurbishment commencing in late September and ISS will keep you informed about what is happening with regards to alternative arrangements nearer to the commencement date.

Refurbishment in the SPAR Community Store will now take place in September; once refurbishment is complete there will be a launch with fun and entertainment for the family. Details of this will be advertised nearer the date. There has been a rise in the use of the Community Store since the ISS partnership commenced; the introduction of Food to Go, The Bakery Counter, Boston’s Donuts, Real Bean Coffee and the Savouries range have proved very popular. With the opening of the refurbished store there will be many new lines which will be competitively priced with the High Street supermarkets.

The Bull & Bowl has successfully implemented the full menu which has generally proved popular both at lunch times and in the evening. The recommencement on a Monday evening of the Quiz has also proved popular.

Louis’ Bar has become a coffee lounge during lunchtime, serving an interim menu prior to opening longer hours, post refurbishment; which is due to commence in mid-August. Once refurbishment has been completed the full menu that is served in the Bull & Bowl will be on offer in Louis’ Cafe Lounge Bar. The Grafton club will be given a coat of paint and once again will be the venue for functions.

Whilst the Retail and Leisure aspects of the partnership gain momentum, behind the scenes now are starting to focus on the Catering aspect of Pay As You Dine (PAYD) which will be introduced on 1st September, when those living-in personnel will only pay for what they eat. New innovative menus will be introduced, giving the customer a choice of meals at competitive prices. All food will be of the high standards that personnel at RAF Marham have come to expect over the years, and on the whole prepared and served by the same staff. A menu tasting, held on 16th August gave the diner the opportunity to experience the forthcoming choices and understand the prices that they will be paying.

The Bapmobile has started delivering around the Unit, providing Hot and Cold drinks, Hot and Cold Snacks, Confectionary and Fresh Fruit, gaining in popularity this facility will be an alternative option for lighter meals for diners once PAYD is implemented. The route and a selection of the menu for the Bapmobile can be found on the ISS Super CRL website.

ISS value your custom and your opinions, to this end Customer Comment Proformas, and Customer Surveys are now available in all Leisure & Retail outlets. This will give you the customer the opportunity to give ISS feedback and the opportunity to tell us what you would like for the future.
