Bean There & Done it for Comic Relief

Sgt Jason Woollett and Cpl Rhys Holt, chefs from RAF Marham’s Caterering Squadron took the plunge into a bath of baked beans for Comic Relief.

The ‘bath of beans’ was the idea of Sgt Woollett’s fiancé, herself part of the Catering Team at RAF Marham. Customers to the Junior Ranks Mess at lunch time paid £1 for a cup of cold beans, which they then poured over the heads of the waiting chefs. The guys were in great spirits as they shivered and shouted as the beans dripped down their faces. The record for the day was the £12 donation for the 12 cups made by Sgt Woollett’s fiance!

The pair raised over £200 and still counting, Sgt Woollett said; “Thank you to everyone who came and supported our fundraiser, it’s ‘bean’ a great success and will benefit a very worthwhile cause.” Thanks must also go to ISS who kindly supplied the cold baked beans. The team from LSS (Logistics Support Squadron) took on their own challenge, to cover over 250 miles of the perimeter track, by cycling or running. They started the challenge at 7.30am, staggering the rota and managed to successfully complete the challenge by 1pm. In addition they held a cake sale and hope that the two events together will have raised more than £1,000 for Comic Relief. PSF (Personnel Services Flight) produced some delicious cakes, which they also sold in aid of Comic Relief.
