AOC No 1 GP Opens the Learning Centre Open Day
The AOC No 1 Gp, AVM G J Bagwell CBE MSc RAF, formally opened this year’s Learning Centre Open Day.
Around 270 station personnel attended Open Day, and it was great to see that personal development aspirations are still high, even though everyone is so busy.
The AOC showed a keen interest in which subjects were currently popular and chatted to a number of people about their learning plans. Around 20 learning/training providers and professional organisations were on hand to offer information on courses and qualifications and they reported record levels of interest, with higher education at the top of the list.
‘We’re aiming higher’ was certainly the message from personnel this year. – and there’s never been a better time to learn, with financial support via Enhanced Learning Credits, Standard Learning Credits, the Free Higher Education Scheme for Service Leavers and the Individual Resettlement Training Grant. Don’t know much about them? – well, just pop into the Learning Centre for information.
Most learning providers are now flexible in their delivery, with a choice of study options to fit in with individual circumstances and the exigencies of the Service. The Personal Learning Advisor (PLA) can offer Advice and Guidance (IAG) for those who would like to start learning and just need a ‘signpost’ to point them in the right direction.
Why not come and find out how you can improve your prospects, in both your RAF career and for the future?
