Airplay… News & Upcoming Events

Concert and Curry Evening
This was a huge success with over 50 people attending from the RAF community. The young people did themselves proud and it was a great event!

Easter Activities
Over 40 young people took part in the Easter activities organised for 8-18 year olds, both at the Youth Centre and off-site. Activities included an Easter Egg hunt, Football Coaching and a Cinema trip!

Art Workshops
As part of Airplay’s Creative Arts programme we will be starting some Art Workshops on Wednesday 24th April for all 8-18 year olds, running up until the end of the Summer Term in July. We have an excellent Art Tutor coming in to do all sorts of exciting Art with the young people, including Wall Art, for the Youth Centre! Sessions will run from 7pm to 9pm and will cost just £1 a session. Members don’t have to come for the whole session to join in. No pre-booking required just turn up!

Cookery Club!
On Thursday 25th May we will be starting a new Cookery Club called ‘Stir Krazy!’, running from 4pm to 5:30pm. The Club will teach the young people the basics of cooking, and will give them more confidence in the kitchen! The Club will run for five sessions, from Thursday 25th April till 23rd May for 8 year olds – Year 6’s only. (Year 7+ will have their turn after May Half Term!) Pre-booking is required due to the nature of the Club, with payment for the five sessions beforehand of £5 in total. Please contact Angela to book a place!

Internet Workshop for Parents
Does your child use the Internet? If the answer is yes, then you’re invited to our ‘Savvy Parents’ Guide to the Internet on Thursday 2nd May 7:30pm to 8:30pm. It’s free, there’ll be refreshments and it will be a great way to find out about some of the things your child is doing online, the risks, and ways to keep them safe online. All resources will be from ThinkuKnow, part of CEOP. We will also be covering this with the young people ahead of the Youth Centre getting internet access in the near future.

For more info on any of the events, contact Angela Caley, Station Youth Worker, at angela.caley@4children.org.uk.
