A Thank You from Marham Infant School

The 2011 – 2012 academic year at Marham Infant School was exciting, busy, full of fun and learning, helped enormously by the involvement of our fantastic community.

During the year our learning extended beyond the school, into the community and further afield. From Marham to London we have been out and about to sing and enjoy lots of different experiences. At home we have worked on the allotments and been involved with a number of charities all of which have helped to develop the children’s growing understanding of commitment and sense of pride in their community.

With each passing term I have been continually amazed at the enthusiasm and kindness shown by the families and community towards the school. From baking and ‘camo’ fundraising days to sports and painting the efforts of families and the local community have ensured the children feel part of a bigger society, something which they have told me they really enjoy. We have also been in receipt of money raised during events such as the Marham Bake Off and the Jubilee Picnic. We will be investing most of the money by purchasing equipment for the children, however we will also be reinvesting some of it back into the community by helping with community projects.

By the time this article appears we will be enjoying the start of a new academic year. The school has grown considerably and necessitated the installation of a new modular building. The aging school interior has been completely re-decorated thanks to the efforts of the Station Warrant Officer and everyone who came into school to help us during the first two days of the summer holidays, I was completely at loss for words (for those who know me will understand that this is unusual!) and have been humbled by the help and kindness shown by so many during this project and others like it throughout the year.

So, as we head into another busy and exciting time here at Marham Infant School I would like to invite you to visit your community school and should you wish to be involved in any way (reading with children, playing games, team sports, gardening etc) please do not hesitate to contact us for a chat, we would love to see you.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has made our school what it is today.
