A Taste of Things to Come…
Introducing the new RAF Super Catering, Retail and Leisure Contract at RAF Marham.
On 1st June, ISS Defence took responsibility for all catering, retail and leisure (CRL) services at RAF Marham under the RAF’s Super CRL contract which see all these services being brought under a single management structure rather than the various different arrangements that currently exist.
Who are ISS?
“ISS is among the world’s best service providers and was ranked No. 2 in the Global Outsourcing 100” (Fortune 500 Magazine 2011) yet it is probably the largest company in the world that no-one’s ever heard of! The values of ISS are Honesty, Entrepreneurship, Responsibility and Quality, these very much mirror the RAF values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence, and is a measure of the Service that ISS will bring to Super CRL.
What will this actually mean for Marham? Hopefully on Day One you will have noticed little change to the service that Marham has enjoyed for many years from the Messes, Shops and Bars. However, behind the scenes there were a lot of changes taking place most notably, civil servants working within these areas and Aramark staff from the Shop and Bars transferring to ISS Defence. Their uniforms are changing and they will have started to receive training the “ISS Way” learning many of the new processes and how to use the new equipment that will be put in place to support the contract. But to all intents and purposes, they will carry on doing their jobs in much the same way as before. The RAF Core Catering Manpower will also be fully embedded into the management and operation of the contract on site albeit under the direction of the CRL General Manager, Andrew Hetherington. At ISS, we use the concept of One Team; here at RAF Marham, we will bring together a number of people to form a new team and together, we will play our part in the Station Team. Other key personalities include Flying Officer Rich Upton, the CRL Partnering Officer, Warrant Officer Martin English and Keith Appleyard the ISS Communications Manager
To keep the community aware of how Super CRL is developing the Marham CRL website is now online at http://iss-rafcrl.yourcrm.co.uk/marham/news/76. This website is a communications tool whereby you can read News of events, promotions, functions and also look at what is happening at all RAF Stations which are part of Super CRL. The website will also give you the opportunity to give your comments and feedback.
During the coming few months work will commence to improve the infrastructure in both Spar shops, Louis’ Bar and The Grafton Club, with the Bull and Bowl being given a quick makeover to introduce new brands; given its popularity as a lunchtime alternative to the Messes and for families, there will not be any significant changes.
Also in the future a customer loyalty card will be launched – points can be collected at any CRL outlet at Marham or across the other Super CRL sites. These will be redeemable within the outlets or against special offers from a range of partner organisations.
ISS is committed to working in partnership with the RAF. The business model is structured so that the gain share will see profits generated at Marham being returned to Marham. There will also be a donation from the sale of some fresh made products, certain wines and use of Forces Finance cash machines to RAF charities.
