31 Squadron Medal Ceremony
At the end of July personnel from RAF Marham’s 31 Squadron received their Operational HERRICK medals at a ceremony held at the Squadron.
Families and friends eagerly waited in the Hardened Air Shelter (HAS) for the doors to open to reveal the men and women of 31 Squadron stood to attention in the beautiful sunshine. Each member receiving a medal was introduced to the audience as Air Officer Commanding Number 1 Group, Air Vice-Marshal Stuart Atha awarded their medals.
RAF Marham’s Station Commander, Group Captain David Cooper said “It was fantastic to see so many families and friends here today supporting the men and women of 31 Squadron as they receive their medals after a successful deployment to Afghanistan. They should be justifiably proud of their achievement and now can look forward to some well deserved downtime with their families over the summer”
Officer Commanding Number 31 Squadron, Wing Commander Rich Yates said “Today was a celebration to mark our return from a very successful deployment in Afghanistan and to recognise the support of our families, friends, colleagues from RAF Marham and our friends and neighbours across West Norfolk.”
