2620 (County of Norfolk) Sqn Appoint Their New Squadron Warrant Officer
2620 (County of Norfolk) Squadron, have recently appointed a new Squadron Warrant Officer. Newly-promoted Warrant Officer Alan Horton has been an RAF Reservist with 2620 Squadron for over 13 years, having previously served with the Territorial Army.
The 48 year old father of 2, originally from Wisbech, but now living in a house he built himself in Terrington St Clement, was a self-employed builder but is now a lecturer in construction at the College of West Norfolk in Wisbech.
He served on operations with 2620 Squadron in the First Gulf War and has conducted major training exercises in Cyprus, Fort Drum (Nth America), Texas, Hythe & Lydd, Otterburn and Catterick.
The photograph shows the Squadron Commander, Squadron Leader Jonathan White, presenting Warrant Officer Horton with his new badge of rank at the Squadron headquarters at RAF Marham. Warrant Officer Horton said: “It is a real honour to be promoted into this appointment. The Squadron Warrant Officer plays an absolutely pivotal role on the Squadron and I am really looking forward to the challenges that this position will bring, over the coming years.”
